The coding workshop: talk, point, play, and change what you built

The Coding Workshop is where the Coder track happens. When the workshop on your family computer is awake, this page shows it full screen: the running app in the middle, the mascot with its talking indicator, picture tiles that light up as each step is finished, and big buttons for Go back and Play. Your child holds the mascot and talks; a real coding helper, Claude Code on your computer, does the typing and tells them what changed in plain words.

Pointing works the way a kid expects. Tap the point button, tap the thing on the screen, say make this one purple, and the helper gets a screenshot of exactly what was meant. Every change runs immediately. Go back undoes it. When the helper has a question about taste, it shows two or three pictures and the mascot reads them out loud.

For grown-ups, the page explains how to wake the workshop. It runs on your own computer next to Claude Code, signed in with your own Claude Pro or Max plan; Mudpuppy never sees your login, and you approve anything that would leave the workshop folder. Each request your child makes costs 3 cents in Mudpuppy tokens, voice and audio included, and the page shows the price before anything is charged. Early access to the workshop installer is open to families in the community by request. Chrome or Edge on Windows for now. Voice is streamed, never stored; only the project stays on your computer.

Try Coding Workshop on Mudpuppy

What you can do

How it works

  1. A grown-up installs Claude Code on the family computer and signs in with their own Claude plan.
  2. Get the workshop installer, open the workshop, and accept the two one-time prompts in its terminal.
  3. Come back to this page on the same computer and tap Let's build.
  4. The child holds the mascot, says what to make, points at things, plays, and says Go back when needed.

Frequently asked questions

The page says the workshop is asleep. What does that mean?

The workshop program is not running on this computer. A grown-up starts it on the family computer, then the child taps Look again on this page and it connects.

Which computers and browsers work?

Chrome or Edge on Windows for now. The workshop listens on the family computer and this page looks for it there, so both must be on the same machine.

What does the workshop cost on Mudpuppy?

1,500 tokens, 3 cents, each time your child asks the helper for something, paid from the grown-up's Mudpuppy account. That one charge covers the voice, the audio and everything else Mudpuppy does for that request. Opening the workshop is free, and nothing is charged while your child is only playing.

Who pays for the coding agent?

Your own Claude plan, through the unmodified Claude Code binary; Mudpuppy never bills for the agent and the sign-in happens in Claude's own window. Claude Max is recommended. Claude Pro fits about one kid session a day.

What is kept and what is not?

Voice is streamed and never stored. The only thing kept is the project itself, on your computer, with each change saved so Go back always works.

How do I get the workshop?

It is coming to the Mudpuppy companion app. Early access is open to families in the community now; write to us and we will send the installer.
